Engineer – Blasting

About the Role
The Engineer – Blasting provides engineering support for the management of storage, handling, and use of explosives at the site, monitoring and auditing adherence to explosives regulations in line with company policy.
What You Will Be Doing
- Review blast designs to ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that blasting will not give rise to danger.
- Ensure explosives are stored, handled, and used in a manner that minimizes health and safety risks, reporting any concerns to the project manager immediately.
- Determine the danger zone in consultation with the project manager and police authorities.
- Prepare a detailed blasting specification for each blast and obtain approval from the project manager.
- Ensure compliance with explosive rules for storage, handling, and usage.
- Verify that equipment and accessories used for shot firing are safe and suitable, and ensure site conditions match the blast specifications before work begins.
- Remove unsafe equipment and accessories from use immediately.
- Ensure only authorized personnel, approved in writing by the Ministry of Interior, work with explosives.
- Check the electrical integrity of the shot-firing system to minimize the risk of misfires.
- Double-check all surface or underground connections before covering them.
- Restrict unauthorized persons from entering the danger zone.
- Ensure all shots are fired from a safe location.
- Inspect the blast area and certify it is free of misfires after the waiting period.
- Provide proper ventilation during charging and ensure noxious fumes are cleared after blasting.
- Ensure the safety officer conducts regular gas monitoring post-blast, recording gas contents.
What You Will Bring
- 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience.
