Junior Mineral Resources Inventory Geologist
Placement : Sorowako
Purpose of the Role:
To perform ore modeling and mineral resource estimation activities that support PTVI’s Growth Plan and Life of Mine (LOM) strategy.
The position ensures the accurate and timely delivery of the annual Mineral Resource & Mineral Reserve (MRMR) reporting,
which serves as a cornerstone for PTVI’s strategic planning and long-term decision-making.
By aligning resource insights with the company’s growth objectives, this role contributes to the sustainable development
and optimization of PTVI’s mineral assets.
Accountabilities:
- Execute the validation process for all required supporting data in the mineral resource modeling workflow, ensuring data integrity and maintaining the quality of the resulting block model and resource estimation.
- Perform mineral resource modeling activities as directed, contributing to the annual MRMR reporting and mineral resource studies, which form the foundation for mine production planning and the company’s strategic growth initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports documenting block modeling results and coordinate with peers for reviews to ensure a transparent, traceable process for audit compliance.
- Carry out studies and designated processes to implement audit recommendations and improve the mineral resource estimation process, aligning with best practices and the outcomes of MRMR readiness assessments.
- Maintain and manage PTVI’s mineral resource and mineral reserve database, ensuring robust data security and improved accessibility to support operational and strategic geological needs.
- Develop a solid understanding of the unique geological characteristics of each deposit within PTVI’s endowment, applying this knowledge to support resource modeling, strategic growth planning, and decision-making processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering.
- Minimum experience 2 years in Nickel Laterite or mineral deposit.
- Nickel Laterite Geology and Mining: In-depth knowledge of nickel laterite deposits, their geological characteristics, and mining methods.
- Experienced in geostatistics, with a strong grasp of geostatistical techniques and their practical application in resource estimation and geological modeling.
- Proficient in geological modeling and mineral resource estimation, utilizing industry-standard methods and software to develop accurate geological models and evaluate mineral resources.
- Experienced in exploration business processes, including drilling operations, core logging, sampling, as well as managing and validating geological databases.
- Skilled in utilizing various mining and geoscience software, such as Datamine, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine, IoGas, ArcGIS, and QGIS.
- Experience with Python, including developing scripts for data analysis, automation, and integration with geostatistical and modeling software.
- Preferably have experience or knowledge in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Management System (SMK3L).
Mine Engineer
Placement : Sorowako
Purpose of the Role:
To develop long-term planning and mine optimization efforts by integrating all deposit blocks into strategic mine planning,
refining long-term strategies, and evaluating current processes to ensure maximum value generation and alignment with long-term business objectives.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for executing comprehensive validation procedures on all required supporting datasets within the mineral resources modeling workflow, ensuring strict data integrity and consistently maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and quality of block models and resource estimations.
- Oversee the integration of all deposit blocks to ensure alignment with strategic planning frameworks and Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves (MRMR) Document.
- Prepare and develop reliable pit design using Vulcan and do field inspections, design the mining hill using all data geology such as block model, ore zone, ore type, grade distribution, stripping ratio, etc.
- Develop mine resources and reserves schedule for entire Life of Mine of the future expansion project (establish assumptions to be used for mine planning, pit optimization, production scheduling optimization, Mine operational expenditure, and Mine capital expenditure) based on the processing plant ore feed requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide input for financial requirements related to long-term planning and mine optimization studies.
- Prepare simple or basic cost estimated, cost evaluation, NPV, and sensitivity cost analysis and opportunities project to reduce the cost. Present costing, economic benefits, and business case of any mine initiatives/improvement required.
- Evaluate current mining business processes to identify areas for improvement in generating greater operational efficiency and economic value.
- Coordinate RnD studies on emerging technologies to support mining operations.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (S1) in Mining Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in mine planning.
- Pengawas Operasional Pertama (POP)/Safety Certification First Line Operational Supervisor is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of nickel laterite formation, ore type characteristic, mine planning, and mine optimization methodologies.
- Familiarity with resource modeling, scheduling, and operational strategy development.
- Proficiency in using mine planning software such as Vulcan, Whittle, MineMax, or equivalent.
- Project management, risk management, cost and budgeting, develop business case and improvement.
- Preferably have experience or knowledge in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Management System (SMK3L).
