Senior HSES Specialist
Job Description:
The Senior HSES Specialist uses best practices to solve complex HSES-related problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve HSES Performance. They act with a considerable degree of autonomy and balance field-based positions with business administrative duties. They serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their expertise in the HSES discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Implement McDermott HSES Management System considering the Company, Client, and legislative regulatory requirements.
- Drive a common and consistent risk-based HSES culture.
- Develop and implement HSES plans, procedures, and instructions as required by Contract and corporate requirements.
- Facilitate and participate in risk assessments and maintain risk registries up to date.
- Develop HSES Activity plan ensuring all HSES requirements, including inspections, audits, and emergency response, are scheduled.
- Monitor effectiveness and assist in implementation of Project HSES Management Plan.
- Prepare, schedule, and conduct internal and external HSES audits.
- Complete subcontractor/vendor HSES pre-qualification and bid evaluation process.
- Manage subcontractor/vendor HSES Performance.
- Work with PMT and sub-contractors on hazard control interventions.
- Review client HSES documentation and perform Gap Analysis when required.
- Establish and manage KPI’s relevant to area of responsibility.
- Monitor HSES statistics and identify trends.
- Report trends and prepare action plans for continual improvement.
- Participate in safety programs and other initiatives.
- Plan, lead, and participate in HSES meetings.
- Follow-up closeout and maintain HSES actions.
- Ensure HSES resources are adequately assigned.
- Complete personal development program and ensure mentees’ development.
- Lead and assist with incident investigations and prepare reports.
- Engage and facilitate HSES client interface where necessary.
- Report all injuries, near misses, property and environmental incidents promptly.
- Contribute to HSES information, training, education, and awareness material.
- Assist with development and maintenance of Emergency Procedures.
- Maintain high standard of safe working practice, quality, and productivity, ensuring compliance with the code of business conduct.
- Coordinate Project HSES activities.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in HSES related field.
- 6 years of experience in the Energy Industry.
- Advanced understanding of local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
- Trained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001).
- Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leader.
- Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function.
- Statistical and data analysis ability.
- Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
- Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Project.
