Sekretariat ASEAN didirikan pada 24 Februari 1976 oleh para Menteri Luar Negeri ASEAN untuk meningkatkan efisiensi koordinasi antarorgan ASEAN serta mendukung pelaksanaan proyek dan kegiatan ASEAN secara efektif. Berdasarkan Perjanjian Pembentukan Sekretariat ASEAN, lembaga ini memiliki peran utama dalam memastikan harmonisasi kegiatan regional untuk mencapai tujuan organisasi. Detail fungsi Sekretariat ASEAN tercermin dalam tugas dan wewenang Sekretaris Jenderal, yang mencakup pengawasan berbagai program dan kerja sama di kawasan.
Pada awal pembentukannya, Sekretariat ASEAN terdiri dari Sekretaris Jenderal, tiga Direktur Biro, seorang Pejabat Hubungan Perdagangan dan Ekonomi Luar Negeri, seorang Pejabat Administrasi, seorang Pejabat Informasi Publik, serta Asisten Sekretaris Jenderal. Sekretariat ini berbasis di Jakarta, Indonesia, dan berperan sebagai pusat administrasi yang mendukung interaksi dinamis antara negara-negara anggota ASEAN untuk mempromosikan integrasi ekonomi, kerja sama sosial-budaya, serta stabilitas politik di Asia Tenggara.
Programme Coordinator for Aus4ASEAN Futures Initiative
The Aus4ASEAN Futures Initiative, a flagship investment under the ASEAN-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), is seeking a Program Coordinator. This initiative, valued at AUD 204 million over 10 years (2022-2032), is responsive to ASEAN’s evolving priorities, offering flexible support aligned with ASEAN systems and regional architecture.
About the Role:
The Program Coordinator (PC) will manage the program team and coordinate efforts with technical specialists and experts. The PC will oversee the entire program cycle, including planning, preparation, and management of Aus4ASEAN Futures projects, ensuring they provide equal opportunity and benefit across all ASEAN Member States. The PC will report to the Australia for ASEAN Futures Program Director/s.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the Aus4ASEAN Futures programming cycle, including project development and management.
- Manage inputs from the program’s team and panel of technical experts.
- Ensure alignment with ASEAN Secretariat project financing and procurement systems.
- Contribute to strengthening technical capability, financial management, and gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) efforts.
Position Requirements
Education
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline;
Experience
- A minimum of six years of professional experience in dealing with a wide spectrum of program development, coordination and management issues is required, with at least
three years in a leadership role; - Experience in developing, coordinating and managing complex development programs as well as evaluations/ reviews is required;
- Experience with programs related to organisational development, social and economic development, and political security is desirable;
- Experience working within ASEAN systems and/or ASEAN Secretariat is desirable;
- Experience coordinating with partners and stakeholder, particularly high-level government officials in a multi-country (regional) setting is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
