Battery Design Engineer
Placement: Jakarta | Position Level: Senior Engineer/Specialist/Lead
Key Responsibilities:
- EV (Electric Vehicle) Business Support
- Review, evaluate, and audit OEM battery system designs to ensure compliance with internal standards and safety regulations.
- Support the Head of EV by acting as technical coordinator/project monitor across OEM partnerships, ensuring engineering consistency across product design, integration, and testing.
- Validate design specifications for pack configuration, battery management systems (BMS), and thermal management aligned with intended vehicle use cases.
- Participate in system testing, factory inspections (FAT), and integration assessments pre-delivery.
- Monitor and document OEM compliance with agreed specs and timelines; raise risk flags to the Business Owner.
- BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) Business Support
- Lead the design and engineering optimization of battery systems, ensuring efficient use of space, cable sizing, and Balance of System (BoS) integration.
- Work closely with the Head of BESS to design cost-effective, scalable energy storage systems that align with project and customer needs.
- Evaluate and standardize technical design packages including single line diagrams, layout plans, component lists, and interconnection drawings.
- Conduct site readiness assessments and support technical clarifications during procurement and construction phases.
- Provide engineering support for commissioning and resolve post-installation technical issues.
Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Electrochemistry or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in battery system design with exposure to both mobility (EV) and stationary storage (BESS).
- Strong knowledge of lithium-ion technologies (LFP, NMC), BMS architecture, cell-to-pack integration, and thermal safety.
